The house is located in a strategic area in the centre of Galicia, 37 km. from Santiago de Compostela and 40 kms. from Las Rías Baixas, a privileged region (Tabeiros-Terra de Montes) with picturesque corners, like monasteries, pazos, “stone crosses”, rivers and waterfalls, prehistoric art and petroglyphs, and many more.
Let’s not forget the numerous gastronomic events and pilgrimages.
Highlights include A festa da Rapa das Bestas (on the first week of July) which consists of finding wild horses living in the area, bringing them back to the village and cutting their manes in the old way. When night falls, everybody enjoys food, music and wine. It has been declared of INTERNATIONAL TOURISTIC INTEREST and takes place in Sabucedo, only 5 minustes away.
Other Gastronomic fairs in the area, worth mentioning, include: Fiesta del Salmon, la fiesta de los Cogumelos (mushrooms), la de la Sidra (cider), la del Cocido (Galician stew) y la del Cordeiro “o espeto” (spit-roast lamb).
